TAAKK, the Japanese menswear brand, unveiled its Spring Summer 2024 Collection, named God is in the detail, on June 25th, during the last day of the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. Why does nature retain such deep meaning for us? The collection for this season begins with a simple question – a journey to discover the origins of visual empathy. Since the beginning, TAAKK has used a multidisciplinary method to challenge traditional ideas about reality and push the limits of innovative menswear design. The brand incorporates extensive material research and inventive fabric treatments, collaborating directly with technicians in each field explored throughout their practice.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
Nature’s shapes appear complicated while still sticking to certain patterns. Nature’s initial chaos is guided by a profound order, as evidenced by hexagons in a bee’s nest, spirals in sea shells, and ripple patterns on leaves. These shapes converge and eventually approach perfection over time and via innumerable tries. Nature’s forms, as opposed to man-made shapes, emerge from the nature itself. The stripes of a zebra mirror the lines in desert sand, the spiral of a sea shell resembles a spinning galaxy, and the veins of a leaf resemble the path of merging rivers. Identical shapes appear in a variety of circumstances. Can we unravel the origins of form and design by studying nature’s works? Perhaps nature’s never-ending show of shapes and forms is more than just a stunning display, but the outcome of an everlasting process involving individual elements at work.
For example, a wardrobe created through endless trials of embroidery, this season’s collection emerged not only from design philosophy but also from close communication with artisans and deeper explorations of development. Each piece has been meticulously created.
